Using a Scientific Calculator

An scientific calculator will be an enhanced version of the ordinary portable calculator or computer program you might use. Memory

For some calculations, you might need to remember one of the calculations to refer to later. You can store a particular calculation to your memory by pressing the M+ button. You can then recall it later using it by clicking on the the MR button. You can clear your memory using the MC button.

Note this: that M+ will add anything that you display to the data already stored in the memory. So it is recommended to click M+ before adding using the M+ in the event that you have just started using the calculator.

To add to your memory, you need to multiply 1 + 2. Then multiply that in the amount of + 3.Click AC to erase all.Add 1 . 2. click =.Click MC to clear the memory, then click+ to save the amount into memory.Click AC to clear previous addition.Then enter 8 - 3. =.Click * again to multiplied by the other number.Click MR to recall what is in memory. Then click =.You will have a final number of 15.To learn how to further add to your memory then click M+ then MR. The 15 will be added to the 3 in memory that gives you 18, when you remember memory.

1/x

1x is simply 1 divided by whatever x is.

  • Enter 5 and then click 1/x to calculate 1/5 = 0.2

sin, cos, tan, inv

The functions in trigonometry that deal with angles are sin ( sin), cosine ( cos), and the tangent ( tan).

  • If you want to calculate the sine for an angle of 30 degrees, you would enter 30 and then the sin button. The result should be 0.5.

inv

It is also possible of reverse-travel. If you are familiar with how to calculate the sine and cosine or the tangent function, you can determine the angle in degrees to calculate that function. This is called the inverse ( inv) operation. These values are also known as"arcsine", arccosine and arctangent.

  • Enter 0.5 to select intov followed by the sin. You should get 30 (degrees) as an answer.

x2 and xy

x2 means "x squared" or x 2. That also means that x is multiplied by x, or x*x.Clear allEnter 3 and click on x2 to get 9. x^y means it is x increased to the power of. For example, if there is a value of 3, you'd get x cubed or x 3.. It is tricky.Suppose you needed to calculate the number 3 4. This is 3*3*3*3 times 4 times.Clear allEnter 3, then click x^yEnter 4 and click =.You should be able to calculate 81.

sqrt

sqrt means the square root of the number. It is often seen as the symbol , but that might not be the case in the older version of some browsers.

The square root a figure is the value multiplied with itself that equals the original number.

Find the square root of 121:

  • Enter 121, then click the sqrt. You should receive an answer of 11. (11*11 = 121.)

(You can also determine the square root by using x^y using y equal to 0.5.)

pi pi is the number 3.14159... used in a variety of geometry calculations. It is often referred to by the Greek letters p. p however it may not show up in some earlier browsers.ln ln is described as the natural logarithm for an amount. The operation is not used much.n! n! signifies a factsorial. If n is 7, then n! = 7*6*5*4*3*2*1. This method isn't used much.Enter 4 and click on n!.
